    Fiberglass Repair

Before I call around I thought that I would get the advice of the forum. I am considering the purchase of a 2001 trawler that at one time had a dinghy crane on roof of the fiberglass pilothouse. The crane was removed but it looks like an amateur repaired the holes in the white nonskid...

    Lead in Diesel engine oil

I was looking at a boat with a Cummins diesel engine 330 HP and in the boat saw an engine oil analysis which was "normal" in all respects but one. One of the reports was labelled "critical" and said that the level of lead was extremely high. The engine only has about 900 hours. Can someone tell...

    Navigation Planning Software

I have been reading about Garmin's Homeport software that allows one to plan a trip on a computer and then transfer the route to an onboard chartplotter which as I understand must also be a Garmin.. Can anyone recommend a similar system for Simrad or Furuno. Thanks.

    Simrad Br24-Nmea 2000

My Google searches did not turn up an answer to this question. Is the Simrad broadband radar compatible with NMEA 2000 so that it could be used with say a Furuno Navnet Chartplotter. Thanks

    Electronic Installation Cost

I am told by a Raymarine dealer that the installation cost of a full suite (Radar and Chartplotter and associated devices) is about 150% of the cost of the devices themselves. This seems very high. I priced a package at $7k and was told that the installation would run about $10k The boat is an...

    Simrad CA 40

Looking at a boat with this Radar that was probably installed around 2001. I would appreciate any information about this system. It would be used for coastal cruising. I am concerned about it being obsolete now even though at the time of installation it was a high end product with probably more...

    Twin disc Trolling valve

I like to fish-salmon halibut-and would appreciate the usefulness of a trolling valve on a Cummins 6BT5.9 engine on a 34-36 foot trawler and any other concerns about such a combination may present. Thanks

    Cummins 6BT5.p

I am looking at at Trawler with this engine under 1000 hours and 7 years old. I am told by the broker that these are extremely reliable engines which require little maintenance other than fluid and belt changes and valve adjustments. Would appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks. I am a new user...
