Just picked up a new to me dinghy with an aluminum floor. Put it in the water and stepped in to it. Hit the floor and down I went, luckily in the boat and not the water. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could use on the floor so I don’t end up in the water.

I’ve been using straight 30W Rotella oil in my Lehman 135. Had some engine work done on the boat and my mechanic told me i should be using a heavier oil. Not sue what to go with.

Can an engine be rebuilt without being taken out ? We have an engine that needs to be rebuilt but have no yards around us to do the work. Was given a name of a diesel mechanic who they they say can do the job but was wondering if it could be done at our marina.

Recently had a new Dometic A/C unit installed. This past night the unit tripped the breaker twice. Checked the wiring and found nothing so flipped the breaker back on and it ran fine. Now twelve hours later the breaker tripped again. Not sure what’s going on. Anyone with advice ?

Have a Ford Lehman on our boat. The previous owner had always used the green Prestone antifreeze in the engine. I’m going to be flushing the system out and am wondering if I should be using the orange coolant I see that’s for Ford ? If I switch how well do I need to flush the system. Am guessing...

Noticed recently that on my upper and lower stations I’m getting a reading of only 11.5v. Tested the back of the alternator and am putting out 14.5v. Is there any relay or device between the two ? Not sure or maybe a wiring problem.

Is there any reason to change the exhaust elbow on the engine other than leaking water ? Mine is old with a little bit of rust but no signs of any leaking water. The boat is 25 yrs old and I’m guessing is the original elbow. Are there any signs I should look for ?

Would a bad heat exchanger create any smoke problems ? Our boat has what I believe to be the original heat exchanger and was wondering if this would contribute to any smoking issues. Looking to replace it anyway so I know where I start from. BTW I’m talking about a white smoke issue.

Just came back from the marina. Talking with some boat owners about our refrigerator which is a marine 120v/12v model. They told me I should leave the frig running on 12v even when at the dock. Not sure if that’s a good idea or not.

Neither upper or lower engine stop buttons work. Had to flip the rod on the engine to get it to stop. Both the solenoid and relay test fine. Since it's both upper and lower I'm thinking it could be wiring between where the two meet and the relay. Am I right to think that or am I missing something ?
