Lead times on generators these days? Reviews on Phasor Generator?

Old Onans did not have an electric fuel pump. The Phasor has an electric fuel pump, the ''Fuacet" I think it's called. Anyway, that could be why it's different. The run switch on the Phasor energizes the pump so it will run. Pump /run switch off, she shuts down. That's how mine seems to work...

Lead times on generators these days? Reviews on Phasor Generator?

I mostly start mine at the remote panel , which is at my electrical panel and shore power/gen selector switch. No reason for me to start mine at the unit, only do it after oil change , impeller change , service work etc. just to make sure things are good. The switches on the generator usually...

Lead times on generators these days? Reviews on Phasor Generator?

How's your new generator? All good I hope. Just saying, I've had both 6.5 and currently 8kw pancake Phasor . Alan is great to deal with. They both replaced Onan units. I installed both, simple, stupid to install. Simple units to service and maintain. Mine are all mechanical, no computer crap...

White goop in my heat exchanger?

Wondering if you kept some around long enough to dry out and spoil? Then get a sniff of it? Did it smell like spoiled fish ? Then it could be jelly fish , or whatever that got thru the strainer etc. Our motors create on hell of a suction . But what ever it is , it’s a very interesting topic...

    gasoline filter changes

Hey Gary that's a nice boat you have. Never heard of a Campion 31. Looks roomy for it size. I guess you are the lock master ! Wow , lots O locks on your waterway. Looks like fun. Enjoy the upcoming season. I have both gas , single inboard 350 22' boat and a 42' twin diesel boat. Water intrusion...

    gasoline filter changes

Gas Does not build up the snot algae and skank that diesel can . In general, it stays cleaner , longer. Both have their limitations. Water intrusion kills both. Keep your tanks , deck fills, hoses tight and dry.

Want opinions on best suppliers (head parts)

Boatersland Marine.com is pretty good. Sometimes Great Lakes Skipper. And I also like Defender like the others.

Does anyone know what this is

Do not glass it over or plug it up. The boat needs a drain, water can get in when out of the water for long periods of time. Through the deck hatches, loose fitting rub rails, what ever...No working bilge pumps when out on the hard. Batteries are removed or go dead if not kept on charge, which...

Does anyone know what this is

Yo Dog...lol, it's a drain plug. I have the same ''T -Handle'' one in my Ocean Yachts. I pull it out when I'm on the hard for the winter. Let's any water that may get in from rail, drain out. Boat's leak , even on the hard. I would clean that skank up around it and give it a close inspection...

    Oil Filter Faves?

As Ed McMahon use to say...''Yes Sir.. you are correct,. hahah." I see NAPA stuck it up my aft port exhaust pipe... I will keep this in mind on my next Earl change. Thanks for the good tip.

Does anyone know what this is

Drain plug...look under the boat in that same area and you will see it from the other side. If you want to remove it, soak it first with penetrating oil for a while. Other wise make sure it's not corroded and is still sealed up and the screws holding it in are good. Other wise don't mess with...

    Crack then a Thunk

Yeah it looks tight. You might want to consider installing the hose on first, then fish the new drain and hose to the drain hole. Shine a bright light into the hole from the shower so you can maybe see your target form the other side. I’ve also used some butchers twine and a 3/8 nut or so as a...

    Scrapping old boats

Boat in the photo is a Pacemaker. Could be a 48’, 53’ or a 55’ . Hard to tell. An Ocean Yachts predecessor. Well it’s a good thing they got it up and out before it sank. I’m not happy too, that the owner didn’t pick up the bill.

    Crack then a Thunk

So how are you getting to the underside of the shower pan to install the new drain ? Looks like you can’t get your hand and arm into that little opening .

    Oil Filter Faves?

NAPA gold…show them your AAA card if your a member and get 10% off anything you get there. You can get your oil there too, NAPA brand which is Valvoline, in a 5 gallon jug. Not sure what your Kitty Cat uses. My DDs 71s I use 40 weight CF-2 , VAL 400 in a 5 gallon jug. $130 currently . But they...

Cruising - NJ to LI Sound & ? - flotilla?

The real Hell Gate is the Schinnecock Canal. We went through there two summers ago. From Cap May to Jones inlet up all the way on the inside of South Shore L.I. It’s like barnegat bay, shallow with mostly narrow channels. You have to run slow and pay attention to your markers / buoys. You also...

    Just cut loose my genset

Second Phasor generator I’ve owned on my second boat. Always performs great all mechanical an NO computer control board to worry about . Nice basic shut downs for low oil pressure and over heating. That’s it. Uses nice heavy duty metal toggle switches etc. Analog hour meter. First one was a 6.5...

    Just cut loose my genset

Perhaps a good running used take out. There should be quite a few around after Ian. Not all boats and the equipment got submerged, just tossed around and floated up on land. Just have to be careful to weed through the bad stuff. Call Phasor marine generators , direct ask for Alan . You should...

    Bomar Hatch warning

I would make sure all of the hatch fastener are thru bolted and not glued in place like the failed one. My old Bomar hatches, 1980 , everything is fastened through the plexiglass. I don’t believe any marine hatches are glass anymore. Think they were back in the day , but they had a wood frame...

    engine swap for Tollycraft 48

Save money, what's the rush? Pull the throttles back to 1600 rpm and run 10 or so knots. That will keep sound down also. Keep those beautiful mechanical 671s, they will out last any of the motors you are considering IMO and are way more reliable compared to modern diesels with all that...

    Anchorage mishap

Also a good idea, especially they are the same mfg. boats rub rails etc would have matched up with fenders out quite well. Less chance of a ''ding''.
