How are the decks built on the wooden GBs? Teak planks all through or teak on top of something else?

    Tool Set Recommendations?

Re tool storage I like to keep my tools in bags. A bag of combination wrenches, a bag of screwdrivers, etc. You can break it down to as many categories as suits you. As moving around on a boat or in an engine compartment can be somewhat awkward and I don’t always know which socket or wrench...

Thoughts on leasing out my trawler for Loopers

Sell, buy back? How about if you sell the boat for, say, 350k with an agreement to buy it back in a year for 275 or 300k if it is in good condition as spelled out in detail in the agreement. ??

Picking a new name for our tug

My thought is that cute or joke names will get old. Something dignified. And, IMO Walrus is a fine name.

    Heater for a GB 36

Hydronic Hydronic is great because you just need to run small hoses rather than 3 - 4" ducts.

    Window Maintenance Leak Prevention

Europa? Seems to me this would be a major advantage to a Europa arrangement. Most or all the windows are protected by an overhang above.

Diesel tank - non removal repair option?

Inside out? Disclaimer: I have no experience with this. Repair on the inside seems like it might work well if the deterioration is on the inside but I am under the impression that often these tanks are rusting from the outside inward. If that were the case, I’d be concerned about a catastrophic...

    where did Hypalon numbers go?

Why Hypalon? I have the ones Defender sells on both a PVC and a hypalon boat. Works fine on both.

    Dinghy Motor

I have a 2.5 meter Zodiac RIB with a 6hp Tohatsu. It will (eventually) plane me alone (94kg). the motor weighs 25kg (55lb). I can get it off the boat and onto the pulpit without too much trouble. I tie a safety line and have someone belay it just in case.

    Help with transport.

Off point but.... I believe I know the boat you are buying. I’ve been aboard once or twice. My wife spent many summer weeks aboard with her extended family. They really loved that boat and had many wonderful times. Hope you do too!

    Getting weird with my search

Stick with your first choice? The price range you're looking in should get you a very nice NT32. The Wilbur is a lovely boat but I predict you'l be cursing your choice if you need to spend any time in the engine room.

    Open vs. Covered Moorage

My boat is under cover and I'm tempted to move it out into the rain. It may not get direct rain or sun under cover but I get a lot of dust, bird droppings and cobwebs.

    Room to Maneuver

I've wondered the same thing. But really, just make whatever offer you want to make. A low offer is not against the law. The worst that can happen is they say no.

    Thoughts on Californian 34

Thanks mvweebles. I don't know of another boat with such a flat bottom AND less than a full length keel. My concern is about what I don't know, what unanticipated problems or characteristics it might have.

    Thoughts on Californian 34

The Californian 34 tics a lot of boxes for me but I'm not sure about that nearly flat bottom aft and relatively short keel. Does anyone here have experience with it?

Ranger tug 31 or beneteau st 34

I'm not familiar with the ST and I haven't spent much time on a RT. My impression, for what it's worth, is that it's designed so that lookers at boat shows can tick off all the boxes for the various features it has, but the space isn't really very comfortable. I would much prefer a Nordic Tug.

    What's Your Hardware/Fastener Storage Solution?

Storage solutions There is no one solution but one I find very useful is to acquire a good supply of ziplock bags. My favorite is 4”x 6”. This allows you to keep like items together yet takes little more space than throwing everything in a box.

Mooring pick up with high bow

I haven’t tried it but a camera that lets you look straight down onto the mooring float seems like it would be quite helpful.
