    Epoxy coating fuel tanks?

Anybody have any thoughts on epoxy coating the inside of steel diesel tanks? I don't have any experience with it, but am in need of options for mine, an aging set on a 1971 GB36. Also, do you know of places in Puget Sound that do it?

    New fuel tanks

I'm looking to replace the fuel tanks on my 1971 GB36. After a lot of looking at options, I'd like to go with steel tanks. If they last as long as the originals have I'll be more than happy. I'm curious about recommendations in the Puget Sound area for where to get it done. I'm in Olympia...

    Swim step finish

Hello all, I'm just finishing up building a new swim platform for my GB36 and am wondering what the thinking is on a finish. I made it out of a combination of teak and mahogany, to make use of a mahogany plank I had. Should I just let it weather or is there something I should put on it...

    Hull color

Hello all ..... I've got a question about repainting. After a great summer cruise to Alaska I'm back in Olympia WA and have stripped the hull of my 1971 Grand Banks 36 woodie. I was wanting to break with the norm and paint the hull a dark blue, but had a conversation with a boat painter who...

    Ouch

Thanks ..... it's a natural deck, 40 years old, and I had visions of diesel permanently changing it. I'll relax.

    Ouch

OK, I knew at some point it would happen ..... I was filling up with diesel and it didn't shut off quite the way I expected and I got a good splash on my perfect old teak deck. Any ideas on how to remedy this ugly looking splotch? Thanks, Craig

    Burning question

Hello all ..... I'm on the return trip of what has been a great run to Alaska, and have just pulled into Prince Rupert on my way to Olympia, WA. in a 1971 GB36. Four days ago I noticed a steady trickle of water from my port stuffing box. Its a bit faster when under way, but still comes out...

    Charts for inside passage?

Chart books Hi Larry ..... I'm wondering if you could give me more information about the chart books. I think I've seen them, but haven't been able to find them online. I've got a good collection of other printed information, with guide books and current tables (which are current), but I was...

    Charts for inside passage?

I'm curious what charts are used by people to backup electronic charts for a run up the inside passage. I'm headed to Petersburg from Olympia, leaving in mid June, and I've got every chart electronically, but am trying to figure out what to take on paper. The cost of getting all the actual...

    checklist for cruising

Thanks all ...... and actually I used to have a number of foster kids, and did forget one once, leaving him at a ski slope. I didn't figure it out till I got down off the mountain and went to buy ice cream cones. It all worked out well.....

    checklist for cruising

This topic may be way too inidividualized, because I'm sure different individuals with different boats have varied priorities, but I'm curious if people have or know of a good checklist of maintenance issues to look at before a long cruise.* I've got a GB36, and I've got the regular maintenance...

A reply to everybody who helped with this ..... thanks so much. *In the process I got a lot more familiar with it all, and as it turned out all i needed to do was turn on the inverter. *

New batteries and an outlet problem

Thanks for the help. *And to clarify, I am talking about 120 AC outlets, and I'm using an inverter. *I was really cautious when I put the new batteries in, and drew out the connections on paper, so I'm really sure I connected it the same way, which is what has me puzzled. *I'll go back and...

New batteries and an outlet problem

I'm still trying to figure out the ins and outs of the electrical system on my 1971 Grand Banks 36. *I just put in new batteries, and now my electrical outlets don't work when I'm disconnected from shore power. *Any ideas why? *They all worked fine with the old batteries. *I'm assuming there's...
