Perkins Sabre M135 Zinc anodes and camshaft

Thanks. Evidently the tank leaks thru tank bolt holes, quite surprisingly. Took some time to figure that out.

Perkins Sabre M135 Zinc anodes and camshaft

Hi, I am rying to learn more about the 2006 Perkins Sabre 135 in my new boat. Two questions: 1) there doesn’t seem to be any zinc anodes in the engine, is that right? Instead the engine seems to be connected to the general bonding of the boat. 2) Is the camshaft driven by gear? There doesn’t...

Hi, I have Vetus dripless seal in my boat. Works well - is dripless indeed and have been happy with it. Official instruction is to add some silicone grease once a year.

Is there room for navigator in ST34, 42 or 44 ?

So - is there enough room for two "larger" size persons to sit side by side on the helm bench ( in ST34)?

Simrad Forward Scan - How's it working?

I am using it in the Baltic sea (rocky waters) and happy with it. Use it mainly to help navigating through rocks to remote natural islands. Helps a lot to see the bottom profile ahead when you take the boat to shore. I am extremely happy and turn it on always when it gets shallower, let’s say...

Is there room for navigator in ST34, 42 or 44 ?

Hi, I am interested in ST 34 or bigger 42/44. Our waters here on Baltic archipelago in Finland are quite rocky, especially when we often navigate outside official fairways. Typically I am steering the boat and navigating in larger scale while my Admiral, who definitely wants to sit so that she...

What's you favorite cold weather boat & why

I have been thinking about this because I would like to continue boating when it gets icy (at least Christmas) as long as the sea is not frozen (happens sometimes before Christmas). Have the following "winter" wishes: Double glazing, Continuous central heating based on Refleks (or Kabola or...

A sad example which emphasizes the importance of thorough surveys. Thanks for sharing this!

Any information on IG SOLO 40 Pilothouse?

It didn't go. Winter came and things got frozen, also sales :) Let's see what happens in future. The boat is very rare and there was practically no information of user experiences available.

    Espresso Machines

Moka Pot Rocks! I have used Moka Pot for ages. You can use it everywhere. Great coffee, need good beans with right roast, a good ceramic grinder and the coffee is awesome. Note the stainless foamer! Great to wake up every morning to get a sip. Simple joys in life.

    Ballast?

I have used lead placed in bags fixed in the bilge. Quite interesting that they did use depleted uranium ( high density material) earlier, one book about boat building even proposed using spent nuclear fuel. I do hope that it was error made in translation. That would have kept the boat warm all...
