    Seacock Grease

Lube a seacock? Another thing to add to my list! I'm on freshwater and have never lubed the seacocks. I'm sure this will sound dumb to those that know what to do, but how do you even do that? What part of the seacock are you lubing?

    Salon FLoor Refinishing....

On a related point, has anyone found a good wood filler that matches the teak or any way to do a repair that blends in? I have a couple dings in my galley floor that I need to repair before finishing. I’ve experimented with a few things but can’t seem to find a match.

Spiders - how to safely rid a boat of spiders

On the lake where I am, there’s a company that you can hire to spray the dock monthly. They use a product called Essentria. You can get it on Amazon. It looks to be natural oils. We’re not free of spiders, but it helps.

Is a built in toaster oven the smart choice?

We have a counter top toaster over that we hauled out when we needed it. Then I realized (after 3 years) that our microwave was a convection combo. Started using it. Seems to do everything the toaster oven can do except make toast, and we already have a toaster. Going to take the toaster...

Towing a boat with my boat

There's a section in this article that makes some good points about towing. https://boattest.com/article/boat-buddies-myths-boating-friends

    Head chemicals

I've noticed that NoFlex keeps down the odor if you use it according to instructions. However, if I'm away from the boat for a couple of weeks, it does smell when I flush. Then I usually put in some of the blue stuff to knock down the smell quickly and switch back to NoFlex after the next...

    Tips to remove 5200

Anywhere that you want the bond to be permanent. It should be though of as an adhesive, not a sealant. That's the purpose of the stuff. Use it only in places that you never (or should never) have to get it apart again. I have a seam in my hull around the swim platform under the rub rail...

New one on me - anchor release technique

I've read probably a hundred articles and posts on anchoring, and this is a new one on me. Anyone every try this or something similar? Thoughts? Seems like you're counting a lot on that zip tie. If it breaks when you don't want it to, the anchor could more easily release. Maybe good for...

PSS Seal - How Do I Correct This?

My shafts are off center and was having trouble with proper seals. Investigated Tides, but Tides recommends that your shaft be within 1/8 inch of center to use their lip seal. After consulting with PYI, I switched instead to oversize carbons and the PSS Pro bellows. This solved the problem...

    Rewiring the whole boat

Boat Electrics Course Highly recommend the boat electrics course at boathowto.com. Useful course if you're rewiring your boat whether doing it yourself or to validate that your electrician actually knows what they are doing. The course is covers both ABYC and ISO standards.

The dreaded call in the night...

I have a Xantrex charger that I thought was dead from water spray from a failing shaft seal. The technician did something to 'reset' it. Been working great for 2 years since then. One caveat is that it was lake water, not salt water.

Does anyone actually RENT out Trawlers?

Anyone have experience with dreamyachtcharter? We were thinking to charter in the Florida Keys with them. The challenge is that they do not maintain current pictures of the boats. The one we're looking at had only 2 pictures, and they told me they are likely just stock photos and not even...

    Ballast (again)

I used wake boat ballast bags: https://www.leadwake.com/collections/frontpage They are 'encapsulated', have handles, decent price and free shipping over $50. They're (relatively) easy to move around as you experiment with placement. I needed 500 pounds to level my boat. You can use the...
