    Buffett's Boat

Buffett had at least one boat built by Pacific Seacraft in Washington NC. This is a link to an article about "Drifter" https://www.boatinternational.com/luxury-yacht-life/owners-experiences/jimmy-buffett-yacht-drifter I think there was another boat delivered some years before that too...

    1975 Marine Trader 34

Aft cabin safety and ventilation I’m also a veteran of early MT 34 . Owned a ‘73 for about 11 years until health said it was time to pack it in a few years back. Many of the photos brought back memories of projects I spent a lot of time on. All these boats now have 40++ years on them, but I...

Sold-1974 Marine Trader 34 Dual Cabin

I sold my 1973 MT34 two years ago for a comparable price. With your engine and genset rebuilds, new tanks, steering and other upgrades, I’m guessing this one won’t last long unless there’s a serious issue with the decks. Curious why you’re selling after putting that much $$/effort.

    Canvas snap replacement

Heat is your friend. I like the hot nail trick. I used to use an old soldering iron with a fine point tip for punching holes, and a flat blade n the same iron to use as a hot knife cutting Sunbrella. Like you said, no frayed edges..

Mast/Boom Reinstall? Or just Give Up?

It should look something like this https://www.eastportrigging.com/project/custom-fabrication/mast-base-hinge Looking at the photo of youor mast more closely, it looks like it's already there.. the base of the mast is lying on top of the masthead, and it's pretty clear that's the fitting is...

MT34 Dual Cabin Shaft Log Replacement

Josh, you have my sympathy. I’m a former owner of a 1973 MT34 and went thru the same exercise a few years back. Very frustrating since the first yard that worked on it really didn’t solve the problem and it took a second visit to a more qualified yard to fix it. They wound up putting in a...

Your listing doesn’t say, or if it does I missed it, but I’m assuming this is a wood hull?

What makes a trawler yacht a trawler yacht?

We must all have yachts....which is why there are Yacht Clubs everyplace. Has anybody ever heard of a Boat Club?

I’ve heard I don’t have to winterize but it’s going to be 18 degrees....

My boat's sold last summer, so I'm not worried about our current NC cold snap. I would always put a bilge heater in the ER, near the water heater and raw water pump. It was programmed to turn on if the temp got to 40. That's about as cold as it ever got. I had the luxury of being only 5...

    Trim Removal Help

A Forstner bit, slightly smaller diameter than the plug, will remove most of the old plug, then clean up and remains of the plug still in the hole.

More thoughts from our cruise ship

We're docked in Bermuda, watching a half dozen 50' or so blue marlin charter battlewagons heading out for the day. My Marine Traffic isn't picking up an AIS position on any of them. I wonder if the captains intentionally keep the transponders off to keep their position "secret" from their...
