ICOM Marine Transeiver speaker Insp

Our ICOM ic-m125 transeiver speaker has stopped working. The radio is transmitting but the speaker silent. I have been told this is not repairable. Does anyone know differently?

Mine did the same thing. My brother tinkers with radios, so he measured my speaker and bought one off ebay or amazon and soldered it in place. Has worked perfectly for two years. cost 3.50 for the speaker.

Open her up and see if you can add a new speaker to the old wiring or see if you can plug in a external speaker to the radio as well if you do not feel comfortable opening up the radio and sourcing a new speaker if that is the problem.

 

[High Wire]

An external 5 ohm speaker can be connected to the gray and black wires of the rectangular back plug.
