I’m not sure of the name of the manufacturer of these cable clamps, but the PO used then extensively to secure cables and wires under the helm. 8 years after and most of them are breaking apart as I disassemble the wiring to the old computer. It’s wam under the helm at times, but I wouldn’t say it’s particularly hot, or particularly cold in winter. Certainly odd that so many are failing.

is there metal in them?

Looks like just plated steel from thr image in the upper left.

good ones should last a long time....either stainless of better plating.

usually only need the steel reinfoced for large heavy cabling or pipes.
 
PS: they are plastic.
 
Yes, it's all about the type of plastic used. The pale white nylon ones seem to last forever when not exposed to sunlight.

:thumb:We have many on the boat in white nylon that are original to the boat, 1981. A few have broken but not many.
