Hello All,
This winter we will be traveling to Mexico for about 6 months and am wondering what everyone uses for WIFI down there? Recently some boaters mentioned to use Starlink (Elon Musk’s system) but they also mentioned it’s tricky based on your home address. Does anyone have experience with this or could you recommend a good WiFi set up that will work in Mexico and beyond? Thanks in advance for all of your knowledge & support.
Safe Cruising,
Joy

We just returned from a season in Mexico, wonderful cruising! What we found was that the Baja Peninsula has limited access to internet outside of the populated areas, La Paz, Loretto, Cabo, etc. satellite would be your best option there.

The mainland has good cellular service almost everywhere, rarely did we need to supplement our Verizon service but we did have a spare phone with a Telcel sim for backup. Verizon limits your use on a daily basis so if you need lots of gigs then Starlink may be a better option. There is a great group on Facebook called Starlink on boats that can provide good info.

Also, marina Wi-Fi is spotty at best.
