This is a 'small world' story.

So our 54 ft Sea Jac has been stuck 400 miles away from home getting various storm repairs and improvements dome at a port with a good boat building industry.

While we were aboard a few months ago we were struggling to understand the electrical systems, which comprise 24v shore power (to comply with New Zealand marina rules and insurance regulations), with a mix of 12v and 110v for everything else.

The marina manager said we should find a chap called Charlie on the next pier. He might be able to help.

Eventually tracked down Charlie, who wandered aboard saying, "yeah, I know this boat".

Turns out he used to work for the guy who imported her to NZ, helped sail her from Canada to New Zealand, and had proceeded to work on her for approx 20 years on-and-off.

Charlie is a legend and was a tremendous help. And what an amazing co-incidence..

Good on Ya!

Good story. But I assume you meant to say 240V shore power. I set it so you can go back in and edit if that's the case.
