I have been searching for hours now, but I cannot find any reference of those motorboats' crossings over to the West from Alaska, sailing towards Japan, Korea, Philippines.
I know this is not really common direction to travel by motorboat, but the Great Sibarian Sushi Run inspired me. (https://www.kensblog.com/about_the_gssr/)
I want to read more about boaters who did this route. Anybody has sources or direction where to find these?

I believe there was another Nordhavn 62 named Walkabout that did the trip independently of the GSSR.

Prevailing wind and current are unfavorable for westbound boats along that route. Even motoring, going against the weather isn’t fun.

After doing the trip the other direction over the last year, I’d love to go back much more slowly. Leaving the boat in Kodiak for the winter and then leaving the boat in Hokkaido the following winter would allow for a nice, relaxed pace through the Aleutians. Plenty of time to wait for weather and explore the Aleutians.

Royal Cruising Club has a useful, free guide for the Aleutians: https://rccpf.org.uk/pilots/26/Aleutian-Islands---Alaska

Thanks for the link. I will certainly read it all and others I see there.

As a recently retired, if I have something plenty, it is time. Even if I get to the point that I decide to do this, it will take years, before this can happen. My boat would need several modifications, installations, for an adventure like this.
However, nothing happens before dreaming about it first. So, the education is very important, even for the decision making.
I completely share your idea to go slow on this route. I could spend couple years, if I need to, to stay safe, to get where I want to get, and discover this wilderness. I know several people have done it, so it is possible.

What is your timeline?

Retriever.

When you leave your boat in Kodiak for the winter, do you need to worry about ice aroundd your boat, or you will put her on land?
