Hi my name is Ryan, I recently purchased a 1983, 42' CHB Trawler. I'm pretty green when it comes to owning and maintaining a large trawler style vessel and am looking forward to the cruising and experiences that it will include, and also looking forward to learning the ins and outs of maintaining and conducting the PMs on the boat to enhance my safety and experience on the water. Hopefully I can tap into the knowledge base of this site and the experience of you all. The boat is currently in Olympia, Washington but will be moved north and homeported out of Ketchikan, AK.
While I'm pretty green when it comes to trawler life and maintenance, I have been around the water my entire life, running around in smaller boats in Puget Sound and have rented some 37 ft Uniflites for weeks at a time in Alaska. I also spent four years in the Coast Guard out of high School, and that time included two winters in the Behring Sea, so I do know what rough water looks like.
