    My last post

Okay, one more post :) I have been moving away from social media and forums in general over the past year for various reasons. Also, with the 2024 race in the US coming up, politics inevitably creeps in to threads in veiled ways and I am not up for it. With that said, no hard feelings on my...

    My last post

This is my last post on TF. I am staying in the boating game and plan on doing it as long as possible. I will probably end up seeing some of you on the dock or at the Islands. I wish everyone the best and a happy new year - Fletcher.

You (Us) old guys have lots of options

SOF, post some pics of you tug. Sounds like you have a good gig going.

    Another new start for Helmsman

I asked about the various charter companies on Cruisers Forum a while ago and the feedback for all of them was good. I ended up going with San Juan Sailing. I have never chartered up there before so others on here will likely be able to provide more details of their experiences. We have a North...

    Weebles heads to Mazatlán

Worst night I ever spent on a boat was in Hamilton Cove just east of there. Got up at night, lost my balance and slammed my hand on the galley counter and heard glass shattering and felt liquid on my hand. Turned on the lights expecting to see red liquid, but got lucky.

Weebles in La Paz Baja (MEX)

I am currently in Dana Point. There are two new Nordhavn 80s here. One has a hot tub on the upper deck that will fit 10. The Bio for the couple appears to imply its their fist boat. No camping.

    Cruising realities

It’s common on forums to over think which radar, anchor, single or twin engine. This thread, which was the result of Peters candid sharing of his experiences is a good one. Some key things: Trips and falls dont get mentioned enough. My wife and I have each taken some bad ones on boats as I am...

    Cruising realities

My rotator surgery was 20 years ago so you are benefitting from more advance techniques with your surgery. I think the main offense was pulling on a wrench too hard to open up a fire hydrant, too soon after surgery. I swim or paddle 6 days a week and can do most things, but some stuff still sets...

    Cruising realities

Rotator cuff surgery is a tough one. I did all of my PT but probably rushed the recovery process. It still acts up. Take your time, and be patient. Easy to say I know. My other shoulder was a rebuild after numerous dislocations and other damage. It was a piece of cake compared to the rotator cuff.

    Elling E4 Sea-trial thoughts

I had a Volvo D6 on a previous boat, and a Cummins QSB on the current one. You made a good choice.

    Cruising realities

It’s a very small percentage of people on this forum that are doing the extensive long range cruising that Crusty Chief and a few others are describing. I am not one of them and am always within 50 miles of the coast and stay in the U.S. I spent considerable time traveling up and down the...

    Let's play a game.

The East Coast has a lot to offer and many cool places to visit. I have never boated in the PNW but it sure looks amazing up there. We have a 10 day charter booked for early 2024 and the Princess Louisa inlet that we are looking forward to. Regarding the SoCal/Central Coast; if one is into...

    Conception dive boat fire

Many people in the US have been on a steady of diet of misinformation and disinformation well before AI showed up.

    Conception dive boat fire

I am just guessing, but highly doubt it. Many of these older west coast sport fish and dive boats are configured the same and I haven’t read anything about it unless someone else on here knows more? The crew often sleeps in a bunk in the wheelhouse, but the rolling is worse up there so sometimes...

    Hard vs Round Chine

Funny, I noticed that as well.
