My Orcades
Newbie
Hello, I am seeking installation info on the older 3 line helm pumps.
Presently we have an upper helm pump that is vertically mounted and
seems to have trapped air in the cylinders that cannot escape.
The lower helm is horizontal and works great.
The upper has about 30 degrees of lost motion and always feels "lumpy'
when turning.
I have dismantled the pump and it in is in good shape.no rust etc.
While it was apart I noticed two tiny internal ports and am wondering
if they have to do with allowing air to escape from the valve area.
The check valves are definitely free as they "click"very clearly as the helm is rocked.
Thanks;
Chris G.
