I'm trying to figure out how to remove the interior window frames of my 1981 Cheerman Trawler. I'm going to replace a piece of the wood veneer on the wall and it would be a lot easier if I could take the frame off.

It looks like it may be secured from the outside behind the exterior frame, but hard to tell. Has anyone ever taken these off before? I should probably save myself the grief but thought I would ask.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have your boat but a very different boat and model.
The glass MAYay be secured from the exterior by angled strips using sealer and screws into the frame covered by plugs. Look for plugs in the tapered parts. this last glass securement is usually done from outside.

Some serious , clear close up photos will get much better responses for you to work with. Phot both sides, interior and exterior.
THe better the photos the better the advice.

I've got a 1983 PT 41 Europa Cheermen. I've not removed an inside frame. I have removed an outside frame to replace a broken window. I'd be interested in how you end up removing the inside frame. We should chat sometime about our boats. I've done a ton of work to mine, including a complete repower. ds@nc.rr. com is my email, or 919-222-7814

I have a 1980 Taiwanese trawler with outside wooden frames and wooden interior.
I took the outside frame of my of my window off to remove the window and facilitate the removal of my fridge through that window.
I think you would find removing the exterior frame a better idea then the interior. In my case I had do drill out the wooden bungs covering the screws, removing the screws and then carefully removing the frame by slicing and chiseling away the glue. It takes time and patience to carefully remove stuff like this because of the damage you can do. I think removing the interior frame might do a lot more damage.

I agree that it may be easier to remove the outside but to work on the veneer inside you will still have to remove the inside frame. So if I were doing it I think I would remove the outside and the glass. Then maybe take a multi tool and carefully cut down around the frame where it meets the bulkhead. After removing any plugs and screws on the inside first.

I have had the same problem with my Bristol 42 and have attached photos to show the workaround that i used. basically , i used a Bosh multi tool and used the bottom of the architrave as my straight edge and cut along the top of the ply, the seat should be easy enough to detach from the wall and floor, slide it out and cut below sight line and remove water damaged piece, in my case i used that a template for the replacement.
I got a scrap of the veneered ply and went to the hardware store and dipped my finger into a few of the stains and dabbed the on the ply and ended up using golden oak which was very close to old colour as you can see.
You may have to concede a discreet beading to cover the cut where it joins the ply going up the side of the window.
You honestly can't tell where it has been replaced . I hope this opens up an option for you as it did with me, it was just such a hard job removing the frame and where do you stop? Just a tip, put a priority into finding ply with matching grain, it is more important than the colour match in that it stands out more, good luck.
