OK, maybe not wild guesses, but want to avoid “it depends” answers. Looking for broad brush strokes here.

We’ve been looking at boats, with special focus on the Kadey Krogen 48. That boat has a guest cabin with various layouts depending on year, specific model, etc. None of the layouts are perfect, and while I’m not of a mind to let “perfect” be the enemy of “good enough”, the layout of a viable workspace for me is key to how we would operate the boat.

So, to my question:

(Again, in broad brush strokes) what would the cost be for having a competent marine carpenter tear out and rebuild a cabin? Assume no furniture of greater complexity than what’s in the KK48 guest cabin (double berth, set of drawers, hanging locker, desk), but a different layout. Maybe make the berth a jackknife, but nothing more complicated than that. My overall goal for the layout would be to make sufficient space for a proper, comfortable office chair, a large monitor, and space to put a laptop.

Thanks for any insight or input.

Cheers.

Gut feel, by the time veneers are matched, headliners, lighting, etc. 5-6 weeks labor (200-250 hours). $15k (ish) plus materials. Call it $25k without upholstery work

Good luck

Thanks! Not sure it’s practical, but I hate hearing “that’s too expensive” without knowing how expensive something is.
