That’s a fun video. I’ve followed SAR on AIS a few times and wondered at the different search patterns.

Two things struck me about the video.

One is that the boat crew are just kids. Not a negative, just another indicator of how old I am. What a great career path those youngsters are on, if they stick to it.

The other thing, it drives home another example of just how little the public, including boaters, know or understand about these tasks. Or any other job for that matter; take it for granted and criticize it from your porch.
