1995 42 CL has leak into salon from upper deck, port.
Have resealed every penetration into glass. Continues to leak above port aft sliding window. Teak has been destroyed above window and water channels down window frame to master head. Found problem but can’t identify source. Appears water channels where upper deck fiberglass attaches to upper deck.
Appreciate any advice!!
Damaged Salon

Rain leaks are the worst. Take a garden hose with a sprinkler head and set it up on the top deck. Once you have duplicated the leak you will be able to determine we’re the leak is coming from by where you are placing the water. Leaks can travel along ways in a boat before they show them selves. Anything screwed into the upper deck is a potential candidate.

I use plastic and cover areas of the suspected leaks, taping tightly so water can’t get in. Then run water on the other areas and see if the area leaks. Sometimes it takes a long time for the water to show up inside. Then if no leak, I move the plastic and try a different area. The plastic is used to stop water from getting in so you can narrow down the area that is leaking. When you find an area that is leaking, let it dry out and divide the area into smaller sections until you get to a small area that is letting water in. It is amazing how far water can travel before coming out inside. The process may take a long time before you narrow it down. When you do find the leak, don’t just add caulk to the outside, you need to get the caulk inside the areas to properly caulk it. Good luck.
