Have a 2000 Mainship Pilot 30 running a 230 Yanmar 4LHA with a ZF Hurth HSW 630 A-1 transmission. I am wanting to service and or replace the transmission oil cooler that is attached to the transmission. Looking for any information from anyone who has had any experience with this maintenance on a ZF transmission in this particular boat or this transmission on another boat. What service did you perform. What make model of oil cooler did your transmission use? If you replaced the cooler, where did you source the new one? My particular cooler was Manufactured by SEN-DURE. It has a part number, and I have contacted SEN-DURE on availability but have not yet received a response. There appear to be aftermarket coolers available to replace the SEN-DURE cooler, but they reference replacement for a Yanmar P/N. I cannot find a Yanmar part number for an oil cooler for the ZF transmission in the Yanmar parts catalog.
TIA for any help.

I have Cummins 6CTAs with ZF transmissions. I replaced the oil coolers last year with ones from sbmar.com. I like the SMX brand they sell. You don’t have to replace it with the exact one you have now, just one that will meet the specs needed. The SMX are CuNi and have anodes for corrosion control. They have some good info on the website.

Just call your main regional Yanmar Distributor like Mack Boring & Parts Company or Mastry Marine Center and give them your engine model number and they can give you the part number for a replacement. I had to replace one of mine on a 4LHA. Local distributors can probably also get the information for you.

I agree with Comodave. I replaced mine with an SMX brand from sbmar.com. Great part, and I like the ability to replace anodes to reduce corrosion. I am reasonably sure that with the part info from existing one, or your engine info they will find the correct replacement.
No affiliation, just a customer.

Thank you all for the related information. I will look into the SMX coolers and see what information Mastery or Mack Boring can provide. I have looked at Mr. Cool as well and they will likely have a replacement once I can find out the specs for the current unit.
