The Jones Act and Taiwanese Trawlers

Has anyone with a Taiwanese Trawler go through the Jones Act Waiver process ? From what I understand, for small vessels that are foreign made and therefore fall under the Jones Act require a waiver from congressi is required in order for the vessel to be eligible for a "CoastWise" endorsement to enable commercial usage.

Has anyone done this?

When we bought the Eagle 15 years ago I got a 6 pack charter, Joes Act.* It was a simple form and cost about $150.00.* You can get a full charter but*they ask for information we did not have about the boat.*

If I was buying a new boat*I would at least ask the mfg to provide the information required for a full charter, so its there in case someone decided to file in the future.*

Good advise. To be limited to a UPV 6 pack usage, does limit the flexability of the vessel.* The cost to apply has gone up from the 150.00 you paid to 500.00 so one has to decide on the value add based on their planned usage.
