I've got a TNT lifting platform on the stern of our EB47. Has anyone replaced one of them recently? The wood is shot and some of the aluminum frame needs work. It's 20 years old, so I'm not faulting the hardware.

Apparently there's an embargo on the Burmese teak, making it pretty expensive to obtain in the States.

TNT is apparently not making wood platforms anymore.

Before I shell out upwards of $20k, anyone been down the same road within the last 18 months?

Check out PlasTeak. We bought a bow pulpit from them quite a while ago and it was very nice. They built it to fit our boat.

i almost go to hospital when in shop see price for teak in Croatia. 15000€+ tax for 1m3 short plank from 1,5 to meter long.
next week I go in one shop 20 km from my house IROKO have price 2300 with tax. i need only 5x4 cm different long pieces to make this platform stronger. i think this cost me over 600€
make Teak grating only material burmanese teak cost over 30 000€ maybe more.sombody must make this grating .

but I must make this old strongest, for next year try make this iroko grating. also have idea make new cockpit table with 1mm teak veneer + plywood. random size teak veneer source fake Africa 100€ m2 + tax.
cheaper is buy Chinese finish table

this guy use oak, but temporarily is hard find good-quality oak Quercus robur in Croatia.storm before a couple year destroyed huge oak forest over 300 million € damage.

also if your platform simply you can use this from 90% china made teak, find in USA .before 20-30 year I remember all this coming in Croatia from Chicago and be cheap relative.1 American open shop here in marina.

we have lifting platform. this teak grating is use to air/water escape.
my is worst because need 4-5 m2 of this teak grating. Best wood on sea is plastic I am on your side ,but 300-400€ m2 PVC teak I don't pay.for this money I can find real teak

We have a lifting platform, all fiberglass with only a couple "scupper" (?) holes formed by some fiberglass or plastic (?) decorative inserts, no teak necessary.

At the suggestion from some other Eastbay owners I've reached out to Butler Marine in PA. They're going to fabricate a new wood platform for us. The existing one is going to get trailered up from Chestertown to Duryea for them to use as a template. Here's hoping it makes it back before Spring commissioning...

Yes, last winter, my platform was damaged-enough that I considered complete replacement, but got sticker-shocked into doing a repair instead.
The embargo had almost emptied the warehouse of the guy in Tiverton by that time, he didn't have anything longer than 9' at 8/4 so I had to do scarf joints in addition to the bending....

Yeah it would have made a lot more sense to just order up a new platform. If I assign $50/hr value to my time I just about broke even.

I don't know the specifics but have been told they have a limited supply of the 14' length we'd need for a few key lengths of the platform, but have 'plenty' of 11' lengths. And the design will be adapted to reflect the available lengths. That may bring opportunities to have some larger sections where wood overlaps and provides a stronger design than the original.

The initial estimate for the platform is ~$8400, which is considerably less than the initial ~$20k our boat guy was thinking it'd cost if they crafted it themselves.

Cost me around $450 for materials

Definitely check out Butler, he made a thicker, stronger swim step with great wood, for our GB42 and shipped it to Seattle for less than the cost of the teak up here. Great guy to work with too.
