I have 2 Simpson Davits (made in the UK), circa 1998. One of the steel cables broke and needs to be replaced. I've been able to determine that each one is 7 x 19 5/32" steel. I've contacted the company for help, but they no longer support or have info for my davits. No model number, but I do have a serial number. Each davit is rated for 150 kg.

There's a very rudimentary diagram in the manual for routing the cable, but no other information. The davit is very sealed up and removing 2 trim panels didn't show my anything obvious about how to route or fish the new cable through.

Anyone have experience with this davit and any help?

Cannot help on the routing but suggest you explore Dynema instead of stainless cable. Super strong and flexible. No strands to cut hands. I used a local rigger when I needed to replace one on my hoist. They can do great work and know what diameter you will need. Splice are streamlined and smooth vs. the stainless hardware.

I also recommend Dynema. I have two davits rigged with it now. Get a flexible electrician’s fish tape and try feeding it through the davit if you no longer have a cable in it. If you do secure a line to it and use the old stranded wire as your fish tape. I would also spend time researching the type of davit you have to see if you can come across a manual or a video on line. There has to be a way to replace that cable and someone will know how. Good luck.
