At the Anacortes Boat Show, I ran across an information table (complete with attendant) for Shearwater University. The lady was excited because she had just closed a deal on a little trawler she was going to put into her program, which previously has only included two sailboats.

I grabbed info from her about their courses, with keen interest in the navigation class. The price is $350, which is acceptable if I'm going to get good material. I don't have a lot of knowledgebase for water navigation, though some foundation with overland and air navigation (compass reading, terrain identification, etc.).

Does anyone have any insight into the quality of Shearwater University's courses?

I read over their site. I did not find a physical address.

I don't know about Shearwater -- have met them as OP did, at boat shows and seem nice, though.

I can vouch for Starpath's self study coastal navigation class, which is high quality and very thorough. That assumes that you want to learn traditional navigation in depth (great depth) including manual plotting, ded reckoning, position finding by sighting, etc. https://www.starpath.com/catalog/courses/1703c.htm
