So we live aboard and now considering some kind of security system. Never really needed one at the house, but The Cap'n would like one on the boat.

Nothing elaborate and considering the Simply Safe System as it seems...well...simple. A few variables we are considering include police monitoring which may or may not make sense because of gated marinas preventing ingress. However moving about in between will not have gates at times. Loud alarm then? But worried about false alarms and scaring the hell out my neighbors. But then that is its job to alert the neighbors.

Do not want to over-engineer this, but thought I would glom onto anybody's else's good or bad experiences with brands and configurations.

Thanks is advance.

Take a look at Siren 3 Pro. All sorts of options and notification by text and or email to intrusion or critical situations. Installed mine 18 months ago and have been extremely pleased.

I use a Smartthings home automation hub that talks Zwave and Zigbee wireless protocols.

With this I get to choose my sensors. For example all of my smoke/co alarms are connected, as are high water, and of course intrusion alarms, plus a lot more.

I have Simplysafe. I’ve been very pleased.

We have SimpliSafe at the house. Very Satisfied. Support is excellent!

We recently had BRNKL installed. My primary purpose behind the install was a battery/shore power monitoring system, but the offer security modules as well. Great system, excellent support from BRNKL staff. Have the added touch of letting me establish a geofence for both security and anchoring (I know - other apps offer the same, and so do most plotters), which I appreciate.
