Hello all,
My wife and i have thoroughly enjoyed our 2005 34’ Mainship Trawler. We have put over 12,000 miles under the keel in the 7 years we have owned it. We have added an apartment size washer and separate dryer, added additional water tankage (extra 80 gallons to the factory 70 gallons), added stern thruster and great inside helm chair (LLebroc). We feel we have maxed out the systems and upgrades to our current boat. We would like to step up and spend more time on the boat, hence the desire for a slightly larger boat. We recently looked at an American Tug 41 that had great space and layout. We would like to be able to get on a 42’ Nordic Tug. The layout (in photos) seems to mesh better with our needs. I have seen a few for sale, but would like to physically get aboard one near us (South Eastern North Carolina-Wilmington). Would also like to speak with an owner as to their experiences. I have read a few postings here that seem very positive about the Nordic Tugs. We would prefer to see a 2003 or later model. Any help to get on an actual boat nearby would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Todd

I thought of that one too. If still available it’s been on the market a while. Seller seemed pretty proud of it. There are others. Nice boats, as are the American Tugs. Good luck!

Nordic and AT are both great. We have an AT 39 but also strongly considered AT 43 and NT 40 and 42.

I can't help identify any for sale but I can suggest that you consider a trip to Seattle (or Anacortes) WA, and especially to align with the Seattle Boat Show in late January/early February.

Not only are both NT and AT factories near Anacortes, the boat show is extremely likely to have some of them for sales and/or on display. And the larger local marinas have many of them if you walk the docks or post for folks willing to show theirs. (Seattle Elliott Bay & Shilshole, Everett, Anacortes Cap Sante, etc) Just a thought and good luck!

I can vouch that NTs are great boats having owned an NT 37 that I absolutely adored. But I rarely if ever see them at the PNW boat shows, probably because the new ones are all spoken for and the used ones get held on to and sell in an instant when they go on the market. Check the boats on display list before heading out to get to look at Nordics.

Agreed on NT 37/39/40 and also AT 34/36/39. They sell so fast they don't have to show them.

Although this year there was a new NT 40 in the water for immediate sale at the Seattle show (if I'm correctly remembering which show!) +1 to check the list of boats!

OTOH I do see AT 41/43 and less often NT 42 at the Seattle shows. Sometimes those are brokerage boats up for sale but occasionally (esp. AT) they might borrow a boat just to show it.

Oh, two other thoughts. One, join your regional NT owners forum. I think (unlike AT) that they allow non-owners to join. Besides info, sometimes folks list and sell their boats through those groups.

Second and related, also consider a vacation paired with attending a regional "rendezvous" for owners. That is a great way to see many boats all at once and talk about them.

We have had a 2008 NT-42 since 2018 and really like the boat. We came from an AT-34. PM me if you have any specific questions. Cheers.
