Hello, my father in law just passed away and had a 1976 Rough Water, was hoping if anyone in this thread could help us figure out where black water pump out is? We had someone come out and couldn't find.
Sorry for your loss. We have a 1977 Rough Water 41 and ours is in the same place, port side deck just aft of the forward salon windows. The black water tank is amidships (between the engine bed stringers) forward of the engine in the engine room. If you have problems pumping it out, check to make sure the tank vent is not plugged. Ours was when we purchased it! It comes off the tank on the port side and rises to to a hull vent fitting near the tank pumpout.

Hatch in salon deck access to holding tank below.
View of holding tank facing forward.
View of Y valve from tank to either a) macerator to overboard thru hull at waterline or b) line to deck fitting.

I’d reckon if your holding tank does not have a Y valve and only has a hose/line/macerator pump going to a waterline thru hull, it was never plumbed for a deck pump out fitting.

Every RW41 I’ve seen has the deck flush mount pump out fitting in the same location - port side outside deck, just aft of the front salon windows (see photo).
2nd photo is the holding tank vent. 3rd photo is from inside, under deck as I have some of the bulkhead apart at the moment.

I suppose it’s entirely possible your RW has the fitting(s) and hose(s) plumbed to starboard side, or even possible it was never set up for deck pump outs.

Hello folks; I have been setting on the dock here for a few years and have decided to say a few words. I have owned a roughwater 29 for 11 years. We live in Nova Scotia and I think we have the only 29 on the east coast. We enjoy our boat very much and dread the day when we have to give her up because of age, not the boat but our age. Right now she is on the trailer in our yard waiting for the weather to improve and to have a survey done so we can put her in the water and enjoy her. Have a great day , Gary.
Hi Gary, I saw this thread this morning and went through all the post looking to see if a 29 Roughwater was mentioned. My father purchased a 29' Roughwater in 1983 it was a 1982 29' with 80 hp Lehman and a single cylinder diesel generator. My father had a trailer made for it and he used it in New England where his summer home was located (Taunton River Berkley MA.) and the we towed it to Gulfshores Alabama for the winter months. He loved that boat! He purchased it to do the great Loop which back then he called it the "Circle". Unfortunately he passed away suddenly in 1990 and never completed the "Circle". The only bad things I can remember about the boat was leaky windows and it vibrated when at idle all the way to 1200 rpm badly. I have since found out that the wrong flywheel ws installed on many 80HP Lehmans in that vintage that caused a balance issue making it a vibrating machine ! I know there were only about 12 of theses manufactured. I would really like to find this boat. It was oringinally registered in Texas and when my father purchased it it was registered in Alabama. When my father passed away we sold the boat to an attorney/judge that resided in Texas. Are there any other 29 Roughwaters on the water? If so I would like to talk to the owners to see if they own this boat. Photo below of my fatter and I pulling it out of the water at the Summerset boat ramp on the tautog River in 1988.

My Roughwater 29 was built in1979 and I bought it 17 years ago from near Fredericton New Brunswick. The story I got is it was at a dealer in Florida and trailered to Maine and sold to a gentleman in New Brunswick. You are right about vibration, but I put the 200 pound flywheel and extended bell housing in it and new engine mounts and flex shaft coupler and it is good for a heavy old 4 cylinder diesel. Mine does not have the generator. I have done many upgrades but sadly we had the surveyors in yesterday and are going to put her up for sale. We have loved her and feel so bad, but time marches on and my wife and I aren't getting any younger. Waymaker is in very good condition and with care will last a long time . Hope this answers your question, Gary Vernon , Brookdale, Nova Scotia.
