Replacing Really Old Thru-Hull

The thru-hull on our Stb engine froze up this past visit to the boat and after trying pretty much everything to get it free we decided to replace it. The problem is that it's a very old (probably 1989 original) thru hull and ball valve that I don't see available anywhere. Most of the newer thru-hulls have the nut on the inside of the hull, but our base plate is much larger and I have my doubts as to whether the nut would grab sufficiently. The nut on the one we have has a very large flange. Here is a photo of the unit less the outside flange which we ground off.

There is no manufacturer on the thing, only 1-1-2" size and 500 WOG which is Water-Oil_Gas so I'm assuming that Kha Shing didn't use a marine thru-hull. When I saw your photo, I thought it was a Perko seacock.
When you install a seacock you don’t use the nut that comes with the thru-hull fitting. The seacock acts as the nut.
The Perko seacocks are excellent. I like Groco that are also excellent because you can buy a pre made backing plate for them.

It’s definitely not a Perko. I’ve looked at the Perko, and ours has a similar backing plate fiberglassed onto the hull, but ours isn’t through bolted to the hull. It’s just sealed and the nut screwed down on the backing plate then the ball valve is screwed on. The difference is that the nut has a large flange rather than the small nuts that come with the current thru hulls available. I think at this point we’ll probably go with the Perko seacock that has the large round flange rather than the triangle one.
