Relocate oil filter on Lehman 255 turbo

Has anyone ever relocated the oil filter on their Lehman 225 turbo. My starboard engine oil filter is on the space between the hull and the engine. Total PIA to remove and replace. I’m looking for where I can get the unit (parts) to connect to the existing filter and then run the 2 hoses to another area where access is much easier. Thanks.

I have a different engine so no experience with your setup.

However have you looked at the filter head? The odds are you can purchase JIC hydraulic fittings to suit the new setup along with new hoses to take care of the length difference.

I would use what is known as Removeable JIC fittings so you can assemble your self. It sounds like from your question that you have never gone this route so ask around your friends to at least show you how to make them. Ask a mechanic if need be. Some hydraulic shops where you get the hose and fittings may help also with the preparation.

Too bad you don’t have a Cummins 6CTA engine. I have a brand new factory remote oil filter kit that I can’t install on my engine. But I am sure it would not work on your engine.

Your wanting a oil bypass filter. I've added them to all my engines. They polish the oil and extend the on-engine oil filters. There are kits that have an adapter that screws into the existing oil filter location and comes with hoses to locate the filter in a better location. "Insane Diesel" makes kits for Ford engines. Not sure if they will work for your engine, but it's a starting point.
