I was at my boat yesterday and experienced some bad behavior of my Raymarine system. I have E127 and E125 chartplotters. Also AIS650, ACU300, EV-1, RS130GPS, Quantum radar.
I was working on setting the displays on the 2 chartplotters to have common display options. The E127 is the data master. It is also set to use the internal GPS (don’t know why it isn’t set to use the RS130 signal).
I kept loosing the GPS fix and the AIS. Then the darn thing started telling me I was moving at speeds up to 57 knots! Pretty amazing given I was tied to the dock and neither engine was running.
I’m not exactly sure where to start looking for the problem. Could it be the EV-1 or something with the internal GPS of the chartplotter? Or something else. Or is there something that need to be reset somewhere in the software?
Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot or remedy this problem would be appreciated.
