I was reading a diesel heater thread then found a blog maintained by @boathealer, where he documented projects in detailed pdf but didn't leave a contact info. One of the projects is the diesel heater. so I post my questions here.

1. an aluminum foil stuff works as a final wrap of some batten insulation (page 6 of the pdf). what is the name of this foil?

2. another layer of heat shield was then wrapped outside of the aluminum foil (page 9). Has anyone used this type insulation roll?

Looks like flex duct in the 1st pic.

it's 3" batten insulation around the flex duct, then wrapped with a foil. I was asking what the foil is that has "3M" printed on top. I think I have found it: 3M aluminum foil tape 1.8 mil HAVC.

In photo 2, another layer of white roll is added on top of the foil. I was curious what material is this roll.

You can buy flex duct already wrapped with foil faced insulation.
You can buy foil faced insulation. Or you can FSK foil and wrap it.

Interesting. Almost looks like foam pipe wrap over the flex duct.
I have the insulated flex ducting on most of my air handlers, I can’t imagine there would be much gain to further insulating them with pipe wrap.
