I'm going to be hauling and painting my boat the first week of April. It's a wood hull Grand Banks. During the survey haul out, there were a few blisters below the water line in the antifoul paint where there wasn't proper adhesion to the surface. I want to pop those, sand the edges back to a good adhesion point and then prime. Any suggestions for a primer below the water line for wood? I'm using Pettit Trinidad HD for the antifouling paint.

I've had good luck using Pettit 6627 Tie Coat Primer below the waterline. If I had chipped off bottom paint, I would feather the area, apply the primer, then cover with bottom paint. Instructions on the can state you can use the primer on metal, fiberglass, and wood. Here's the description of the product... "Pettit Tie Coat Primer 6627 is a versatile, chlorinated rubber primer for use on metal surfaces as well as a tie coat between different types of coatings. It can be used above and below the waterline and is compatible with all Pettit antifouling bottom paints and topside finishes".

Thank you. I was wondering about that, but when I was reading the description on the website, my mind was seeing "metal primer" and thinking metal primer only.
