Bit of boat history for your morning coffee.

Steve Goodwin of SV Panope, the anchor guy, works in Port Townsend WA at a boatyard. Some time ago he posted this 5-min video showing several "Schooners" built in the early 20th century for halibut fishing. Although never equipped with sails, the aft pilothouse design has traditionally been referred to as a schooner. The original Nordhavn 62 was a great modern example of the genre.

In October there were 3 of them in the PT yard being worked on. I was next door having a bow thruster added to the Boat.

Watching THOR being broken up is heartbreaking. POLARIS passed us going through the locks a few weeks ago, so we got a good look at her as she headed out into the Puget Sound.

Very interesting!

Thanks for posting this & thanks to Steve!
