My 1983 Perkins 4.236 has started idling at 1200 rpm. I have disconnected the throttle linkage and backing off the idle stop screw but neither has solved the problem. Don't know of this is relevant but the fuel level in the racor for that engine drains down to a point where the top of the fuel level is visible in the bowl and you can see fuel running down into it. I would that this would allow air into the system but apparently it doesn't because the engine will run for hours this way without stalling. I have tried shutting down the engine and filling the racor but doing this has no effect on the high idle speed.
