What are the best paper like charts for use with the Water Way Guide to the eastern great lakes vol one? Back in the day the NYS Barge canal charts were published in a wire bond large format. Is something like that available for the rest of the region including the Canadian canals: Rideau, Trent Severn, Chamly, Ottawa River?

For Canadian canals there are individual strip charts that you buy individually or as a set... TSW, Rideau, etc. Also a set for the Georgian Bay Small Craft Route.
Many swear by electronic only but I find the paper charts, used in conjunction with GPS & electronic chart's very useful for both pre- planning and navigation.

I have not used the chart books but it looks like they are available.
Google is your friend!

Ditto, and Amen. And while I believe we should try to live our hopes rather than our fears, I am also a prudent mariner. That means every now and then I ask myself - what could go wrong here? If any of the world's assortment of bad actors ever starts making mischief with our constellation of satellites, those paper charts in your nav drawer will suddenly look like a million dollars. Meanwhile, having them aboard adds negligible weight and zero strain on your 12 volt system.
