Does anyone know if my simrad AP 25 connects thru NMEA 0183 or 2000?
Thanks lee

Could be either. I have a 0183 set up but added a new AP this summer. My previous AP was 183 but my electronics guy added a 0183 to 2000 converter which means I can run a mix of both.

I am replacing my FB plotter this spring so will start to move to 2000, initially using the converter but eventually going to a 2000 backbone.

The converter was ~$100 and the cable was ~$100.

Simrad controls of that vintage connect to their course computers via SimNet - a proprietary variation similar to 0183. In your case, I'm assuming the computer is the AC20, but you need to check. The AC20 has inputs for other system components and interfaces with your networkable items, like a GPS or chartplotter. Some number of those will be NMEA, looks like 0183, but you need to find the manual for your computer and verify.
