This is a feature that I really liked about the boat, a transom davit that would be easy to use and keep the deck clear.

The only bad thing is it didn't work. Yeah, just another of those things that don't work...

The good news is it works now! Replacing the battery in the remote control didn't work, so I went to the main which is under the bed. Made worse by our addition of a very nice (thick and heavy) mattress. Before hiring my muscle man again I employed the block and tackle with some ratchet straps;

Which allowed rotating the thing out of the way so I could remove the old battery which was another dead lead acid in an unsecured battery box with charger clips attached to an unsecured battery charger also lurking down there. Amazing. Here is the now secured battery box just before I popped in the Li Time size 31 100 AH replacement.

Wired charger leads to a socket in the cabin so I can plug in the charger as needed. This battery is not connected to the boat electrical system. Good for 100A continuous and the Davit spec is 85A max.

Looking forward to having my dingy hanging off the back of my boat so I can get back to my roots - :)

fork style transome davit is my favorite style of davit. I had one on a previous boat and launching the dinghy was so quick and easy!

Cool, thanks. Good to have verification before the fact. Have a Newport Baja (discontinued a foot shorter than the Catalina) in the garage right now, bought on sale a year ago, a Newport NT 300 electric and (2) Li Time 36 volt 55AH batteries all ready to go.

As you can see, Dream Catcher is not in anyway easy to fish from. Standing on the aft deck you are as high off the water as the water is deep under the boat, about 12 feet. That Baja will work great for fishing in the Delta!

Here's the charging port, a 50A rated socket left side low, next to the switch. I added a 12V cigarette socket right above.

While I was working the aft cabin I replaced the reading lights which are controlled by that switch with this adjustable reading and back light fixture with (of course) a USB port.

I made a "swim stirrup" for use with the davit;

Another length of quarter inch chain to attach to the davit and the davit will hoist me out of the drink!

Made from 1/8" thick 1.5" aluminum angle, no worry about being strong enough - :)

Interesting way to power the davit. Our Dinghy Butler runs on the house bank.

I like that stirrup idea. We have a hanging chair that clips into the Butler, but have yet to use it.
