Vessel Name
Bayhead
Vessel Make
Bayhead Marine 42
Live in Muskoka, Ontario. Have been boating for 40 yrs. Do have a 42' trawler. But not sure what to do with it. Someone is going to ask. Its been in storage for 20 yrs. INDOORS.

What make and year is the trawler? Is it located on the Trent Severn Waterway? Otherwise it may be a challenge to move a 42' boat.

It was my fathers boat. I had used it a few times, but I have been way to busy with my business for the last 20 yrs.

The trawler is a Bayhead Marine Built in Tatamagouche, NS. Yes its right beside the Trent Severn waterway in Washago. It is around 1995.

I have a few runabouts and a Jetski that I use. This trawler is great, but I go boating mostly by myself.

It does need some work after all this time in storage. Relaunch is not really a problem, but just not sure that I am going to be taking the wife out a lot. When we had it in the water, we would use it maybe 5 times a season. So its really not that practical for us.

Maybe sell

You looming to sell it?

It might be the best thing to sell it off. I was thinking to do the big loop, but my wife isn't that fond of cruising.

Dockside condo with a few day cruises? of course that comes with costs too.
Yes, that how that had worked out for us. But she is not an outdoors girl.

Covered slips up on Trent Severn were in the $7000 a season 20 yrs ago. haven't checked lately on pricing.

Questions are:

how much to fix?

re-launch it?

how much to ask?

First thought.

Hours are about 340 only on a mech 6BTA 5.9 Cummins, but after all this time.

The engine should be opened all gaskets and seals replaced. Transmission similar.
Fuel tank cleaned out, water system replaced, hoses too old. Electronics replaced. New batteries installed

Hull is perfect, freshwater use only.

Not sure you'd recoup the cost of properly launching and recommissioning a boat that's been stored for 20 years if you're looking to sell.

The boat as a whole is sound, I have had it out in a storm on Lake Simcoe with 6-7 foot seas. It handled that no problem. Keep in mind these are really short and steep waves on freshwater, Probably the equivalent of 10 foot seas on the ocean.

I was the only one on the lake!!! I would not consider to be out there with a Bayliner or any of these other "lake boats".

Looks like a great boat, 20 years of storage can be hard on the systems.

If it were me, I'd go over everything below the water line, through hulls, packings, rudder, prop, get new bilge pumps and switches and launch it.
