After an exhausting 1.5 year hunt, our search is finally over. We closed on an NP45, hull #18, today! We can't get down to see her for 2 days. Going to be the longest 2 days in my life. Sellers were awesome and are taking a couple of days to go over everything with us, very excited!

What a great ending to the story. I remember your posts with frustration of the search.

Looks like a very nice boat. You'll have a great time with it.

Best regards, Peter.

Congrats! I think you will love it. Had the opportunity to step aboard this model a few times at boat shows and always enjoyed it.

Congrats on your new boat. Beauty. New name in the works?

Congratulations, James. It is a beautiful boat. It is great that the sellers are spending a couple of days with you guys. That will accelerate the learning curve quite a bit. The first few weeks may feel a little bit overwhelming, but soon everything will feel like old hat. Keep us posted on how it goes, and enjoy the new boat!

Congratulations, North Pacific 45 and 49 have been favorites of mind.

Congrats! Your boat is on my top 3 list. Hope there's another one available in a year and a half when we're ready.

I was a few days too late - called to see this boat. Now I know who to blame. Hope you enjoy her.

Sorry man. I know how you feel, happened to us with the last one we tried to buy. Keep in touch with Evan and Trevor, I'm sure another will come along soon.

Thanks Nate, appreciate it. I have to say, the sellers have been great. Way above and beyond. They sent me a list last night of all the stuff they are leaving onboard - towels, bed linens, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, etc, just to make the initial transition easier. They offered to remove the stuff, of course, and asked if we wanted it, to make things easier. This came about after a discussion of how quickly a small car with 2 dogs fills up and how it was going to be an interesting trip down. He is doing an oil change with me to make sure I know how to do it, setting up his maintenance log spreadsheet on my computer, provided checklists, wifi info, organized manuals and trip log books and even offered to take us out on a trial run to show us the ropes. He's txt'd me filter and parts numbers that I'll need, lists of where safety equipment is located, etc, etc. They have been awesome!

I've heard so many terrible stories with awful sellers, sometimes buyers too, so I feel really grateful to have had the pleasure of dealing with these guys. I guess even the blind pig finds the acorn every now and then.

James, Congrats. Hope to see you on the water. A very nice boat.

Just posted...
(Video of OP's boat)
Just curious: Is that creepy? I mean the boat already has new owners, and yet just 8 hours ago they post a complete walk through of what is now a private vessel.

Or is it possibly part of whatever deal the buyer made (like the broker reduced the price if you would let them show everyone your new boat on youtube). If so, fair enough.

Na, I'm not too worried about it. My boat wasn't my boat when they shot that video. It was in trawlerfest. Tons of people have been through it. Honestly, I had the opportunity to buy it before the show and I didn't. Was too busy hemmin and hawin'. I don't mind folks seeing my boat though. I'm a bit proud of it.

That's good. Glad you don't mind. It is pretty!

I would not be happy to show my private vessel to the world via someone else's video. I get that they shot it at the show, but they released it 8 hours ago and it's your personal boat now. It's nice that you don't mind (and even like it), and good for someone like me to know for future reference. (y)

What's good for the goose is good for the gander. What's a gander anyway?

A goose with commitment issues.

And I for one greatly appreciate these type of videos - makes boat shopping way easier. Thank you.

Do I recall correctly that North Pacific boats are Helmsmans from before they were called Helmsman, and perhaps sold in the US by different people?
I don't think Helmsman and North Pacific have anything in common. Helmsman did use the Mariner 37 as the starting point for their 38 (I'm not quite sure on the history of the Mariner) and they also bought the Camano 31 design.

In the back of my mind, North Pacific was a new brand started sometime around 2007-ish by a fellow called Trevor Brice. The back of my mind may not be correct though. OP probably knows now (at least if he's anything like me, researching something big I'm buying).

OP: A gander is a male goose. A goose is a female goose. That said, I'm not exactly sure how that phrase applied above. Usually it means that what's good or right for one person is good for another person also. IOW, things should be fair and treatment of everyone should be equal.

PS: I love boat videos too, of course. Who doesn't!

Congratulations!! The NP45 is an excellent choice. We cruised with a couple who had one and I was really impressed with it. Happy cruising!!
