- 1982 Ocean Alexander MK1 50 Flushdeck
Greetings! First-time poster here!
I've been following the forum for a while, soaking up all the valuable information and doing my research. It took me two years of searching before I finally found the right boat. No two boats were the same—options varied wildly, and prices were all over the map. I think I drove my broker a little crazy!
After a long hunt, I finally settled on a 1982 Ocean Alexander 50 MK1 Flushdeck. It was quite the journey, as the boat was part of an estate sale, which meant a lengthy negotiation process. Even after my offer was accepted, there was still a lot to tackle: survey, sea trials, repairs, an updated survey, some unexpected Trump-related drama (long story!), insurance, mooring, and finally closing—about five months later.
The boat is now prepped for delivery from Oregon and will be imported to its new home in North Vancouver, Canada. What drew me to this model was the pilothouse with walkaround decks and a flying bridge. It's an older boat, in great shape overall, though it does have some deferred maintenance to address before the big trip north.
I've learned so much from this community already, and I'm excited to finally jump in and contribute!
