New member and new boat people!

Hi my name is Krista. My husband Al and I bought a 38 foot 1984 Ocean Alexander trawler for our retirement residence and plan to travel til we can't travel anymore! We are originally from Nova Scotia Canada, but bought the boat in Ocean Springs Mississippi and set sail from there 2 days ago and are heading for Freeport Bahamas. We welcome any and all advice, tips, guidance ....any info anyone feels they want to share with us . We are both 55 years old btw. I am a retired registered Nurse and my husband a retired financial planner.

Welcome aboard. My wife, also a retired RN has cruised with me since we did the Great Loop back in 2001 when we were in our early 30's, just kids. We did Cuba and Yucatan but didn't make it to the Bahamas in our Grand Banks 42 Classic. Now we are in our 5th and probably final year of cruising PNW waters and then we will most likely be getting a boat for SE USA and Bahamas cruising. We want to revisit the Bay of Honduras, Belize and the Mexican Riviera to see all the changes. Probably do Grand Cayman as well. Hope we see you out there.

Many of the cruisers you'll meet along the Gulf coast over the next few weeks will be loopers coming out of the river in Mobile heading for FL/Bahamas. The AGLCA provides support, guidance and community for this group. It might be worth checking in to this group on Facebook or through a membership.
