After many delays due to health and other reasons, we recently completed a 430 nm trip finally bringing our 2024 38 Sedan from the Chesapeake Bay home to Narragansett Bay Rhode Island. Cruised at an average speed of about 14 knots for most of the trip (did one 'slow' day at 10 knots when the day's passage was short).

Wow - she is looking great - and 14 knots - huge - I forget what you have for power - assuming the 550 derivative (or so) - curious as to your fuel consumption at speed? Our 43048 is on the hard this morning for some of her commissioning work - looking like the end of the month for some test cruising.

Thank you. Yes, the 550 hp version of the Cummins 6.7. 18 knots WOT, 3300 rpm.

Like any powerboat (especially a 30,000 lb semi-displacement design), speed increases linearly while fuel consumption goes up exponentially to the cube power. 14-14.5 knots at 2800 rpm burns about 19.5-20 gph.

As the old hot rodders saying goes, "Speed costs. How fast do you want to go?"
