New Comfortable Seat

I had Topside Canvas make a matching foot rest to go with my new seat that they upholstered with UltraLeather. A very comfortable combination.
I love my Hrlmsman 38E!

The built in lower helm seat Mariner put in hull 3 is serviceable, but gets increasingly uncomfortable over time on long runs. Looks like I could remove the original seat components to make way for a more modern version.

Judging from the build pictures on my 43 (which appear applicable), I would guess that the seat framework is "attached" to the cabinetry boxes below and aft - perhaps screwed? But also - likely glued - so one step at a time... But also believe that Scott or Van could help you if you send them the same pics.

Judging from my experience with the mirror in our forward head, everything is screwed and glued. Bet that seat is too.

I bet a good upholstery shop could put new foam in your seat and recover them if you like. My new seat was stripped down to remove factory upholstery and they put in a softer foam, per my request. Then they upholstered it with UltraLeather, which is soft to the touch. Combined with the new foam, the few people who tried it out said they would fall to sleep in it. It’s too comfortable.
