new cat 3208ta primaire air filter

Hello,

i just got 2 new primaire air filter ellements for my 3208ta 435hp

they seem just a 1cm thick sort of black foam with a square upstanding bit om the side, cost a lot of money.

Is this special matirial ?

Are there other people who have the same engines
i now the 325hp and 435hp us a different of filter ellement.

I have same engines. I think it is a standard type of foam used in many types of engine filters. I think it is costly because of the shape it has to take to fit the air cleaner housing. Then add on $$ if you buy from CAT!
Good thing is that you can clean these filters yourself. Get a bucket of warm soapy (liquid dishwater to cut the grease) water and immerse the filter in it. Rinse the dirt out like an ordinary sponge. Repeat the process until no more oil/dirt comes out. Ring out the filter and let air dry.

thanks, i purchaced them from Italy, they are original new spares from cat but from ebay, i have now a spare set will swap with the current ones and try to clean them, thanks for the sugestion.

I replaced those filters with ones from Walker Engineering. They are like K&N filters.
