Just bought a 1976 hatteras Lrc and back up generator runs but the electrical side or windings are bad.* We are putting in a shop in David, Panama but mechanic thinks they won't be able to save it* Westerbeke 8BTD generator,I have found the main rotor and Exciter rotor to be shorted and corrosion damage (per mechanic).
So my thought was to maybe find a used generator that has a bad engine and buy the generator side and install that.* I will eventually replace but I need to get this one running if possible and make it last so I can at least use the boat and get Air Conditioning.* Not sure what to replace with down the road but my main generator is an old Oan 15kw so I will probably just get another 15 Onan (new) and run this westerbeke until it drops and eventually replace it with another 8kw Onan
So any help finding a place to get the electrical side or winding side of Westerbeke 8kw generator would be great.* Here is the model number Westerbeke # 035930
