Does anyone know someone who is good with either hand sketching or computer use for developing a simple boat design? I'm working on something and have a few sketches but need assistance taking it to the next level to see how the proportions look.

I'm looking for someone who enjoys this type of activity as fun or a hobby. I don't think it would take more than a few hours either be hand or using CATIA on a laptop. I recognize this request may be a little off point but thought TF was a good place to start searching. Thanks

Find Tad Roberts. He used to be active on this forum and is a respected NA. He did some interesting variations on a Willard 36 hull. It will probably take more time than you think, but will be right, not just pretty.

He's also active on some of the boat design forums.

Good luck.

While he isn't a hobbyist, I have heard nothing but the highest praise for Bob Perry and that his consulting is reasonable.

NAs tend to focus on a particular segment of boats. Some even sub-specialize a bit like Ed Joy and his wonderful high lat designs in Al for sail. Although Ed designs other types that small segment is what he’s know for much like Tenant and cruising powercats.
Although Perry is the guru for blue water cruising sail and Seaton for Fe power they may not be in their wheelhouse for a very small boat design. No question Delvin would be a better choice imho.
Perhaps if you gave some basic parameters such as projected use profile, principal dimensions, hull material folks here could give more relevant advice. Perry calls what you’ve done a cartoon. He sells them and they’re very cute but a far cry from working plans, cutting files, a developed hull and a spec sheet. Perhaps you can get the more basic study plans done first to see if you want to go further with the project. But in any case please direct us by telling us your dream.

Thank You

Thanks to everyone who responded. I was unaware of the web-site focused on designs and found it interesting. In response to the question about what we are thinking, this is not a trawler but rather a possible modification to an existing small boat (18' sailboat). Mostly deck and interior changes similar to the fun and collaboration we enjoyed with Scott on H38E deck mold. Thanks again.
