Since we have a lot of people using the marine elegance here I thought I’d check to see if anyone has had this happen. My head is about one year old, has the smart control panel, and is interfaced with a Purasan. The Purasan is generally switched off and the head discharges to tank, but the interface wiring is such that it triggers a treatment cycle if the head cycles and the Purasan power is on.
Anyhoo, about two months ago the head started randomly flushing with nobody touching the controls. It startled me the first time it happened as I thought someone was on the boat when I entered just as it cycled. It’s totally random when it happens, and I can’t find anything that triggers it. Ghosts maybe?

When it randomly flushes is the Purasan on? Have you contacted Raritan yet?

I asked Ai if Purasan has an auto flush, yes it does and it is connected to your Marine elegance. Seems to be doing what it is programmed to do. Check your user manual.

Auto flush? I didn’t see that when I installed it. Definitely will check.
Doesn’t matter if the Purasan is powered on or not, still random. (Or programmed auto I guess) we’ll see.

I read the manual and didn’t find any mention of automatic cycling. This is an older Purasan, and doesn’t have much in the way of electronics on it. The interface is to trigger the Purasan when the elegance flushes, that’s it.
I have a nagging feeling that the led lights in the salon may be putting noise on the dc system. It seems like one particular light, right where I come in the door is related. I can’t be certain, but it seems like when I turn that on I notice the head flushes. Not positive, and not every time though.
I think I will talk to raritan about this, maybe they’ve heard of it before. Probably not though. Nobody admits anything these days.

Just replace it with a Vacuflush...it will solve all your problems.

This is getting interesting.

Bundled wires and electronic flush panel, maybe induction?

Call Raritan Tech Support. In the past with my install they were incredibly helpful and will also get one of their engineers on the line. My support experience with them was excellent

interesting to be sure. the dc power for the lights travel in the same raceway from the distribution panel as the sanitation system, but the electronic flush panel and it's communication cable are really distant from the salon lights. could be coincidence, but i feel like it's happened too many times. i don't have a scope to look for noise on the dc, but might try to borrow one.
i'll call raritan first though.

Just to follow up on this, after a few emails with raritan, they advised that on the circuit board of the flush controller there lives a switch for choosing between flush signal sources. Funny that there’s no mention of setting this switch for panel control vs flush handle control, but since putting the switch in the proper position there hasn’t been any further ghost flushing.
