Same way on the lake growing up with my cousins with the same Whaler! Many rocks below the surface where the old milk jug markers would often become detached. At 11 years old we would buzz around with complete confidence and watch others get prop strikes.
 
I have similar memories, flying between Marquette and Long Island in the Les Cheneaux in a 17 whaler. As much as I cringe thinking about it, I hope my children will have the same memories.
 
We don't need no stinkin charts!

Actually we eased our way into this narrow(!) spot between two huge sets of rocks. Motor was off, we pulled ourselves ahead with our hands. This was on Lake Pleasant, AZ, north of the Phoenix area.
