Lewmar Windlass - Up but no Down

2000 Concept Windless. Studs were full of rust. Cleaned and painted. I have UP but not DOWN. D2 stud on motor is spinning and not seating. There is power to the stud but not to the motor. Any suggestion on how to repair and/or what type of service would be required to repair? Thanks

Same happened to my Vetus windlass. Took it to the local starter/alternator shop and he fixed the post and cleaned up the motor, painted it for less than $100 a few years back.
